Comparison

WOOT!! YES!! Me and MJ have been recommended the Yamaha M7CL for Black Lights.

This is the board's dimensions, all in cm.

However, being Ming Jie and Eugene, okay wait wait I shall just type the sms that we sent each other.

MJ> Eh bro, Mark recommended we use the M7CL. Do we want it?
Gene> Midas Heritage 3000. Go for it.
MJ> Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Haha. Okay I'll inform him.

For those of you out there who have no experience with the Heritage 3000 at all, here a top-view picture.

Okay I couldn't find the blueprint or whatever you call it for the Heritage 3000, but here's the dimensions from http://www.midasconsoles.com/h3000-specs.html

48 channel 44 mono/4 stereo 215kg 473.9lbs* 1054mm x 2257mm 41.49” x 88.86”

If we compare both boards,

Heritage 3000 - 2.25m by 1m
M7CL - 1.2m by 0.7m

We're getting a board double the size for the same amount of channels. However this might be due to the board's characteristics. The M7CL is digital, this would mean that there's no need for the many many knobs to tune EQ, send to mix etc.

But the Heritage 3000 however, is fully analog and will not have a digital display or digital system. But because two engineers are working on the Heritage 3000 at the same time, a digital display would hinder performance etc; only one person can access at the same time.

Thus the Heritage 3000 is the perfect mixer. Come on, 24 channels per person, we don't even need a signal splitter. We can route the signal from his output to my input chn and we have 2 identical signals on one board. Of course, pre-fader and pre-eq. But probably post-compression, gate, gain etc.

And to end off, here's a quote from MJ. I'm staying at his house rmb, so we were talking... and...

MJ, "Can you believe it? We get a chance to use the M7CL and instead we rent a board that's bigger than my bed."

By the way we measured. The Heritage 3000 CANNOT fit through my door, and if I were to put it up straight like a pole on it's side, it would create quite a big hole in my ceiling. Holy hell it's made to impress.

GO MIDAS. Black Light's is going to be successful. Man all we needed were good equipment man. The skills? Leave it to us. (:

WHEE THE HERITAGE 3000.

(PS: The images here look bad because of the space constraint my blog is giving. However, right click the image and download it if you like. Shit boy the Heritage 3000 is HUGE. Ming Jie can lie down there and roll about. So can I. (: )
